The Management strongly believe the development of Haiti relies on its natural resources, the mining sector will be a major contributor to the country’s economic development, employment, and the welfare of the Haitian people.
As you all know, Haiti and the Dominican Republic shared multiple borders. This next-door neighbor made it to the top 10 Gold producers of the world. Ref: (http://www.usfunds.com/investor-library/frank-talk/here-are-the-worlds-top-10-gold-producing-mines/ ). These resources do not stop at the borders; Haiti and Dominican Republic have similar geological characteristics. Since the adoption to develop the mining sector in the DR; Dominican Republic attracted thousands of companies in different sectors. In Fact, under the “Dominican Republic Economic Report 2017” the DR reached a GDP of USD $73.6 bn of which 26.5% was direct Contribution of the Mining Sector. Ref:
Haiti is in a very difficult impasse today; the international community donors are exhausted. It is time that the Haitian Government together with its legislative body took a stronger role on pushing such development to occur with its current partners and promote that sector; we applaud the Bureau of Mines and its body who have worked exhaustively together with different parties to create the recent propose mining law and we strongly applaud the Haitian’s Senate for the unanimous recent acceptance of such proposed Mining Law, we urge the regulators to ratified such law a matter to promote this sector across the nation while ensuring appropriate steps to ensure the environment, the safety of the people and appropriate define rehabilitation plan are in place together with smart urban planning.
Haiti should no longer relies on donors and handouts; Haiti should and must rely on its natural resources while taking responsible steps.
From a quick analysis perspective, the current exploitation mining permits the Haitian Government will benefit 50% of the net revenue without the Government Investment participation. According to many studies currently today there is approximately 63 Geological known deposits in Haiti: Ref: https://thediggings.com/hti . The Bureau of Mines in Haiti strongly like to see such development happen swiftly.
As a company in that sector; we believe, that the true resources of the country are the people and together with the people major changes in the economy can swiftly be made. We urge any company that come to Haiti to work in that sector to respect the country’s laws the same way they would respect the laws of their own land. Haiti is a poor country with the most resilient people and we are proud of our people. The BME have done a fantastic job maintaining the process today and had paid strong attention of International public companies who manipulate approaches to enter into joint venture with smaller establish companies by misrepresenting themselves and trying to manipulate identified resources of the country with intend to defraud the Government. These companies and their officers must be reported to the appropriate authorities in their countries. “RGC’s goal is “HELP HAITI BECOME THE PEARL OF THE ISLAND IT WAS ONCE BEFORE”.
