Angelo Viard
Chairman/Chief Executive Officer and Director
Mr. Angelo Viard has more than 16 years of experience in all phases of different types of business development and land management ventures with expertise in acquisitions, operations, divestitures, contract preparation, and negotiations. He has served in the following companies in a management capacity; Bare Escentuals, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Technology Mondial, Thomas Weisel Partners (Investment Banking), and OpenTV. Angelo still serves as a Director for many publicly traded companies.
He was the founder of VCS Group, Inc a compliance regulation company, and founder of Technology Mondial Inc., a company organized to provide WIMAX technology services in Costa Rica. Angelo holds a Masters in Computer Science and a Bachelors degree in Administration & Management. We are pleased to have Angelo Viard as our Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, and Director.
Dr. Jan Krason
Chief Geologist
Dr. Jan Krason graduated from the University of Wroclaw, Poland, with M. Sc. and Ph. D. degrees in Geology (Ph.D. minor in Political Economy). He worked for the same university from 1956 to 1966 as assistant and associate professor, and research scientist. As a recipient of a scientific grant for post-graduate work, he studied for one year at Cairo University, where he participated in various exploration projects in the Egyptian deserts carried out by the Geological Survey of Egypt.
In Libya (1966-1969), as Project Geologist, he contributed to the discovery of a major salt deposit hosted in a large sebkha. In 1969, Dr. Krason immigrated to the USA and settled permanently in Denver, Colorado. From January 1973 to August 1974, he worked for the Division of Water Resources for the State of Colorado. Since 1974, he has been President and CEO of Geoexplorers International, Inc.; a highly reputable consulting, exploration, development, and operating corporation. In October 1986, Dr. Krason, as the invited speaker for the Annual Conference of Newmont Mining Corp., presented “Muruntau the World’s Largest Gold Mine” in Uzbekistan, and recommended it as an exploration model.
Dr. Krason has worked and lectured in over 60 countries, has authored and co-authored over 140 scientific publications, and brings over 50 years of worldwide professional experience. We are pleased to have Dr. Jan Krason as our Chief Geologist.
Edward Qin
Chief Financial Officer/Treasurer
Mr. Edward Qin was recently an interim controller at Cantanloupe Systems. Prior to Cantanloupe, he held many Sarbanes-Oxley and internal audit positions with companies such as Valley Transportation Authority, Cisco Systems, Telik, Atmel Corp., ABM Industries, McKesson Corp., and Harmonic Inc. Edward brings a variety of services and strong experience to VCS Mining. Edward holds a Bachelors of Science, Managerial Economics (accounting emphasis). We are pleased to have Edward Qin as Chief Financial Officer, and Treasurer.
Joanne Vermeulen
Director of Investor Relations and Marketing
Miss Joanne Vermeulen is an experienced investor in the gold mining industry. Having participated in stockboard discussions for over a year, Joanne has gained strategic insight into the key pieces of information that investors value most, such as pre-release company news notices, technical report results, and progress being made towards the precious and valuable mining permits.
Joanne's personal background is primarily in the financial field. She holds an Honors Diploma in Accounting and Computers. Most recently, Joanne served in a management role in the automotive industry for the past 10 years. We are pleased to have Joanne Vermeulen as Director of Investor Relations, and Marketing.
Jay Jacobs
Director
Mr. Jay Jacobs is Chairman of Embarcadero Funds. He was the founder and Portfolio Manager for Crossover Venture Partners, a privately managed equity fund, and was also a founding partner of Thomas Weisel Partners. Starting with the firm in 1998 in Institutional Equity Sales and moving throughout the firm to his final position as Director of Thomas Weisel Asset Management working as a portfolio manager and a manager overseeing alternative and traditional investment strategies. From 1986 to 1998, he was a founding partner and Director of Sales with Wessels, Arnorld and Henderson in Minneapolis Minnesota. We are pleased to have Jay Jacobs as an Advisor.
Ankesh Kumar
Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Ankesh Kumar is a serial entrepreneur, who has founded 4 companies in the area of business applications (Personic/AppMail), Consumer Web 2.0 (Grouptivity) and Consulting (ATSystems). He has taken ATsystems from $0 to $20 Million in four years and sold it to TMPW. Personic went from $0 to $25 Million in 4 years, was sold to Unicru and raised $50 Million of venture funding along the way. AppMail, a business application company, pioneered employee time off via email and received a patent for linking email and business applications. At Grouptivity, Ankesh devised a method of ranking web content by how often its been shared, known as Share Rank.
Ankesh holds a MBA from Portsmounth University in the UK and a MS in Computer Science from Brighton Polytechnic also in the UK. We are pleased to have Ankesh Kumar as an Advisor.
Garrett Van Wagoner
Director
Mr. Garrett Van Wagoner started his career in the investment industry in 1978. He founded Van Wagoner Capital Management in 1996, focusing on emerging growth investments in the technology and health care areas. The company manages both public equities as well as late stage private investments. Over the past 15 years the firm has done dozens of private placements and saw many numerous success stories, both through acquisition as well as IPO liquidity events. We are pleased to have Garrett Van Wagoner as an Advisor.
Jeff L. Handy
Director
Mr. Jeff L. Handy is a co-founder of H&H Partnership LLC, an investment advisory group, and brings 16 years of experience in high net worth client services, investment management, and business development.
Jeff is a former Managing Director and department head of the private client services division at Thomas Weisel Partners in San Francisco. Since 1999 he helped to create, oversee and manage the department, which consisted of seasoned investment advisors and professionals responsible for managing over 9 billion US dollars in Institutional and High Net worth assets. Mr. Handy has been involved in the creation of a number of companies and charities, where he continues to serve as consultant or board member.
Prior to joining Thomas Weisel Partners, Jeff was a Managing Director and Senior Manager for the Fixed Income and Wealth Management Group of Montgomery Securities. Previously, he has served as a Portfolio Manager at Franklin Templeton where he oversaw the management of various fixed income mutual funds with assets in excess of 10 billion US dollars.
